Socioeconomic integration in São Paulo

 

Location: The project takes place in the poor central district of Santa Cecilia in São Paulo.

Objective:
The project aims:
- to improve the effectiveness of government and non-government programmes for access to basic social services,
- to participate in the social, cultural and economic emancipation of vulnerable children and families in the centre of São Paulo,
- to improve urban facilities and access to them.

Actions:
The following actions will be carried out in association with the Brazilian NGO, Ato Cidadão:
-  Providing a
space for social integration
Providing social services for this space: socioeconomic integration programmes, aid for children, social orientation, etc.
Producing a guide to government and non-government services.
-  Creating a
local development commission, and a local development plan.
-  Providing an
employment orientation service.

Direct beneficiaries: 1050 families in a situation of severe social vulnerability.

Indirect beneficiaries: 7000 persons, inhabitants of the communities concerned.

Local partners:
- Brazilian NGO: Ato Cidadão, jointly responsible for implementing the project.
- Locally: the municipal secretariat for social welfare, in charge of providing vocational training and equipment, etc.
- Financial partners: the European Commission.
